Sun’s out, fun sprouts! Our living Kelp Forest exhibit is eating up all this fabulous sunshine we’ve had of late. Coupled with cold, upwelled water filled with nutrients, new plants are popping up everywhere in the display! The giant kelp at the Aquarium can grow nearly 4 inches in a day, while in the wild, giant kelp can grow over a foot a day! This superlative seaweed’s surge to the surface provides habitat and food for the denizens of the kelp forest community.
