Eye, eye, eye—it’s easy to sea that cephalopod eyes are something special. Unlike ours, cephalopod eyes have no blind spot, as their optic nerve sits neatly behind their retina.
There are a few adaptive schools of thoughts for their pupils: Circular for deep-sea squid hunting in low-light, rectangular in octopuses which might help discern color information from their environment, and wavy in cuttlefishes to cut out glare and focus on what’s in plain sight.
