A reddish-orange North Pacific bigeye octopus shows off one of its namesake large eyes. The octopus’ mantle extends towards the upper-left corner while its arms are splayed out as if it’s settling down like a parachute.

My, my, what bigeye octopus you have! 👁️🐙

Please join us in welcoming the most adorable new additions to Into the Deep/En Lo Profundo: our North Pacific bigeye octopuses!

While we’ve featured this species in the past in other exhibits, this is the first time we’ve ever raised bigeye hatchlings for display. Delightfully dainty now, these sensational cephs will eventually grow to be about the size of a small orange. These a-peel-ing octopodes are the zest!
