Makana (meaning “gift” in Hawaiian) turns 13 years young today, and Alika (meaning “guardian” or “protector”) turned 2 on Wednesday! Rescued as injured chicks and unable to survive on their own in the wild, these two beautiful, boisterous birds are awesome ambassadors for open ocean wildlife affected by plastic pollution.
