MACNA 2018 Las Vegas: Salinity Pen Plus by Poseidon Flow Technologies

[ad_1]

poseidon Salinity Pen Plus Poseidon Flow Technologies is a new startup company from Canada and the maker of Salinity Pen Plus, a digital salinity/specific gravity measuring tool for the reef aquarium. The device was first shown at MACNA in Las Vegas and I had a chance to talk to the company’s founder, Mr. Daren Bugeja, about his invention. Salinity Pen Plus is a handheld, battery-operated device the size of a common screwdriver that automatically measures the temperature and salinity/specific gravity of saltwater. It consists of a platinum-coated electrode to measure salinity (using electroconductivity as the method of measurement), an alphanumeric display, and three buttons for accessing all of its functions. Salinity Pen Plus Although Salinity Pen Plus is not the first device of its kind on the market, it has one interesting feature that makes it unique- it comes with a bottle of 30ppt, lab tested calibration solution. The calibration process is quick and painless (as was demonstrated at the show)- you place the tip of the electrode in the calibration solution and hold the cal/hold button for 10 seconds to calibrate the pen. The whole process ensures reliable readings; the product was designed to make calibration as quick and easy as possible so that it can be performed every time the measurement is taken. Salinity Pen Plus will hit the market soon with an attractive price of around $100 US. I will be doing an in-depth review of this device soon, so stay tuned and please visit for more information about the company and their debut product.
