Hello Aquarium friends and family: Following the recommendations of local and state public health authorities, the Monterey Bay Aquarium is closing to the public effective today, March 12, at 5 p.m., through at least March 27. While there have been no known cases of exposure to COVID-19 at the Aquarium, the health and safety of our staff, volunteers, guests, community and animals is our top priority.
We know that you’re concerned about our staff and animals, and we want to reassure you that a core team of staff will continue to provide care for our animals and operate critical systems in the Aquarium. All of our staff will be paid during this closure, regardless of their job responsibilities and ability to work remotely. We also have a surplus of essential supplies, food and medicine to care for our animals while we’re closed. For more information on the measures we’re taking, visit our website here: https://www.montereybayaquarium.org/coronavirus
If you were planning a visit to the Aquarium, we hope that you’ll be able to stop by when we are open again, but understand if you’re unable to reschedule—for questions about your tickets, please call 831-648-4800.
While we’ll miss you here, we promise to keep you connected to the Aquarium and the ocean and to stay connected with you on our social media accounts while we’re closed. Please let us know if you have any questions—we’ll sea you again soon.
