What do you think touching smooth, wavy grooves (new band name?) of a blade of kelp feels like?

Or the rough and tough exterior of an abalone shell?

A diver's view of the Aquarium's Great Tide Pool illustrates an array of red seaweed, corals, and animals decorating the rocks in a palette of colors. Closest to us rests a red abalone, standing out from the crowd with its rough brownish gray shell.

How about the teeny pointed toes of a hermit crab as they tickle the palm of your hand?
