Nearly 35 years after we began caring for injured and orphaned sea otters and pups, more than 800 have come through our Sea Otter Program.
Before we began, no one even knew how to keep pups alive once they became separated from their mothers—but thanks to our amazing animal care staff and volunteers, and our equally pawesome resident otters, we figured it out. By pairing pups up with skillful sea otter surrogate moms, they learn the skills they’ll need to survive in the wild (like how to crack open tough shells and groom that extra fuzzy fur coat).
This surrogacy program is uniquely ours, and it’s only pawsible because of your support. Together, we can continue to nurture and care for these important animals and make sure they have a healthy future!
