OK, now this is pawesome! Resident sea otters Kit and Ivy are in the Sea Otter Exhibit to teach their adopted wild sea otter pups some classic sea otter 101!! Kit is taking care of Pup 882 and Ivy is taking care of Pup 883, while Otter 860 hangs out has a companion.
(We only name sea otters that could not survive in the wild and need to remain in human care—hopefully 882, 883 and 860 will never need names and live long lives in the wild!)
If you’re around at 2:30 p.m. PST, Patrick and Emily from the Social Media team will be hopping into the stream to answer your otter questions. Sea you then!
Thanks to the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service for granting us this special exception to our Marine Mammal Enhancement permit, # MA-032027 that governs our work with wild sea otters, so we can stream our Sea Otter Cam while these young animals are housed in the exhibit!
